Karel Hendrik van Seben (sometimes he signed with von Seben) (The Hague, 26 October 1893 – Hilversum, 11 March 1988) was a Dutch painter, sculptor, draftsman, illustrator and book cover designer.[1]
Van Seben worked and lived in The Hague until 1919, in Amsterdam until 1933, in Hilversum in 1934, Loosdrecht until 1939, De Bilt, Bilthoven and from 1943 in Bussum.
He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague under Professor Ros. He traveled to Greece, France, Africa, Italy, and Norway.
Van Seben created cityscapes, still lifes, and figurative works, and designed a considerable number of book covers and sheet music covers, of which at least 31 are known. He was a member of the Kunstliefde society in Utrecht.
A portrait of him by Otto van Rees hangs in the Centraal Museum in Utrecht.
